15 Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A) from PJI

Q: Where is matcha produced?

A: We source from trusted producers in Kyushu, mainly in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

We only handle high-quality matcha from contracted farmers.

Q: What is the shelf life?

A: If unopened, it will last approximately 12 months from the date of manufacture, but PJI has set the expiration date at 9 months to maintain quality.

We recommend consuming it as soon as possible after opening.

Q: Can you issue a Certificate of Origin (CoO) or Phytosanitary Certificate (Phyto)?

A: Yes, we can issue one if necessary.

The Certificate of Origin is obtained from the Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Phytosanitary Certificate is officially obtained from the Quarantine Station.

Products that have undergone quarantine inspection and have been issued with a Certificate of Origin can be shipped in approximately 2 to 3 weeks if all processes go smoothly.

Generally, no other documents will be issued.

Q: Can I get a health certificate?

A: Unfortunately, there is no health certification system for powdered matcha in Japan.

Instead, we obtain a Phytosanitary Certificate and a Certificate of Origin to ensure that the products meet the requirements of the importing country.

Q: How should I store matcha?

A: The key to keeping matcha fresh for a long time is to store it in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.

It is recommended to store in the refrigerator after opening to avoid light, high temperature, humidity and odors.

Immediately after taking it out of the refrigerator, be sure to return it to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation.

The quality of this product will deteriorate in high temperatures, humidity, light, and oxygen, so please seal the container after opening and use it as soon as possible.
